More than a decade ago, Julie and I — burdened by the fact that millions of kids and teens throughout the world were being trafficked and exploited for sex — left our full-time jobs to dedicate our lives to championing the voices of those silenced by this unconscionable injustice.

From our small beginnings of raising awareness and serving other organizations in Southeast Asia, For the Silent has become a beacon of hope to forgotten and silenced youth in East Texas and a forerunner in bringing about systematic change in the entire region.  And we believe FTS’s work is just getting started!

With bittersweet excitement, I will be stepping aside as Executive Director this year to devote more time to family and the pursuit of filmmaking, something that has been on my heart for many years. Also, I believe it's a great time to bring in a more seasoned and experienced leader, with fresh vision and strength, who can take FTS to the next level.

The early days, 2007 — mine and Julie’s first trip to Cambodia solidified the calling in our hearts to champion and empower the voices of those silenced by sex trafficking.

Julie and I have built a strong and sustainable foundation and believe that the next Executive Director will be able to increase the reach and capacity of the organization — bringing hope to even more at-risk and exploited youth, not only in East Texas, but throughout the country.

I will stay on until the ideal replacement has been hired, trained, and is confidently established. Then I will join the board of directors in order to help serve long term. Julie will continue on as the Programs Director, focusing on what she does best: building thoughtful, innovative, and effective programs that reach the most vulnerable.

The job of the incoming executive director will be an excellent opportunity for a leader with an unyielding commitment to end sexual exploitation by empowering the voices of vulnerable and exploited youth. FTS has a solid foundation and is poised for exponential growth — a 12-year track record, a growing pool of donors, an excellent reputation, a committed staff, and an active board.

This position is responsible for holistically leading the organization on its mission, managing the day-to-day operations, and building the capacity of the organization in order to increase effectiveness, influence, and reach!
