Our History
For The Silent was started, not to be a movement, but to be a reaction to the heart of God. After hearing stories of young girls being forced into sexual slavery, founders Kenny and Julie Rigsby could not ignore this injustice. They knew this grieved the heart of God, that they had to respond, and urge a generation to react to His heart as well.
Kenny and Julie quit their full time jobs in 2006 and spent four months praying, researching and seeking wisdom on what to do. Out of this act of faith FTS was birthed, with the goal to speak for those who were silent and mobilize others to use their voices, in the form of music, art, running, etc. to advocate and raise money for on-the-ground projects.
In January 2007, FTS became a recognized 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Within months, FTS was speaking at churches and community events, helping shed light on this dark issue. Soon, artists from different parts of the country donated art to be auctioned off to raise money, people were making scarves, musicians were writing songs, and others began getting involved to help make a difference.
